Laura Michnya

Instructor

Laura began practicing mat Pilates over 20 years ago when her sister encouraged her to try a Mari Winsor Pilates video. Always being drawn to exercise formats that connect mind, body and breath, she began exploring Reformer Pilates in 2018. After trying the reformer for the first time, she fell in love with the supportive apparatus and the strengthening and lengthening that she experienced in her body. She found Pilates to be a wonderful compliment to the yoga and running that she loved.

Laura completed her reformer Pilates certification through Right Balance Pilates in 2020 and completed the mat Pilates certification in 2019. She is also certified to teach Yoga and Zen Barre. She has been teaching yoga for over 14 years and is the owner of Bluetail Yoga LLC. She managed the Clarksburg Village Community Yoga program in Clarksburg, Maryland from 2011-2018. Laura has also taught yoga, barre and Pilates at several health clubs and gyms to include Atlantic Coast Athletic Club (ACAC) in Germantown, MD, Sussex Family YMCA and RISE Fitness + Adventure in Rehoboth Beach, DE. She is a nature enthusiast who loves teaching outdoors and has partnered with several farms in MD and DE to lead mindful hikes, goat yoga, and outdoor yoga & art events. Laura also loves sharing creative movement with our younger generation and enjoys teaching Kids Yoga programs like Preschool Storytime Yoga and Girl Power Yoga Summer Camp.

Laura received her yoga teacher training through YogaFit, the largest yoga fitness education school in the world. She has a B.S. degree in Sports Medicine where she studied anatomy, exercise physiology, athletic training, and kinesiology.

Laura lives in Lewes, DE with her husband, 3 children and 2 labradoodle pups. When she isn’t practicing or teaching Pilates or yoga, she can often be found playing in the ocean with her kids, doing art, crafts, and DIY projects, reading, walking the beach, trying to teach her pups to SUP or traveling with her family. Laura believes that expressing yourself creativity through movement will change your life.
