Renee Shockley

New Client Relationship Manager

Renee is a new Pilates Instructor at Right Balance Pilates (RBP), where she brings a unique blend of health, wellness, and professional expertise to her teaching. With a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from the University of Maryland and a minor in business, she also pursued studies in health sciences including Anatomy and Physiology and Nutrition.

For the last 24 years, Renee worked as a Certified Real Estate Appraiser and Principal of MidShore Appraisal Services, a real estate appraisal firm serving Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Despite her successful career in business, she has always had a deep passion for fitness, health, and overall well-being—both mental and physical. Raised on a farm, she spent her childhood exploring nature through swimming, biking, and hiking, which sparked her lifelong love for movement. Renee took gymnastics as a child. As an adult, she has explored various fitness modalities, including dance, TRX, CrossFit, HIIT, and long-distance running. Renee has taken several classes in self-defense including boxing and Krav-Maga.

In 2017, a life-changing injury left Renee with a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and several bulging discs in her spine. This experience prompted a profound shift in her life, leading her to embark on a spiritual and healing journey. She began exploring functional medicine and holistic therapies, including energy healing and sound healing, as well as deepening her understanding of the mind-body connection. These explorations not only helped her heal but also inspired a greater appreciation for the holistic approach to health, which she now integrates into her teaching and personal philosophy. Recognizing the need for a gentler approach to fitness, she turned to Yoga and Pilates for healing and strength. Pilates, in particular, has been transformative in helping her regain the flexibility, strength, and agility she once had.

Renee completed Pilates Reformer Teacher Training with Right Balance Pilates in January 2025 and is currently enrolled in Mat Pilates Teacher Training in the spring. Her goal is to become comprehensively trained in Pilates and other movement modalities. With her diverse background and personal experience overcoming health challenges, she is dedicated to helping others achieve balance, strength, and wellness through Pilates.
